To use, simply run TLT. É(It Éis Éadvised Éthat Éyou Éplace it in a pathed èdirectory for ease of use).
You will be prompted for a filename. If you simply press <ENTER> here, TLT èwill do a directory and again will prompt you for a filename.
Type in the filename (remembering any Éextension Éit might have) and press è<ENTER>.
The file will be displayed in one of two ways:
1. A standard ASCII (text) file. 20 Élines Éof text (upto 80 characters per èline) will be shown onscreen at a time. ÉOnce you have read the file, press èalmost any key (space bar etc) and the Énext 20 lines will be shown. And so èon.
2. An ANSI file. Part of the ANSI Éscreen will be displayed, up to what TLT èthinks is 20 lines (though it's Éusually shorter). Ansi codes are displayed è"as-is" without any translation - so Éthere Éis Éa small risk of Ansi bombs èbeing initiated.
There are a few universal hot-keys used throughout:
Q or ESC (QUIT) - Quit TLT and return to DOS.
D (DIR) - Stop current file and do a directory listing and prompt.
H or ? (HELP) - Show small help screen and program info.
Also, CTRL+C or a control-break will halt TLT.
Legal Stuff
-=-=-=-=-=-
TLT is supplied with a Élimited Éwarranty: ÉNONE! If this program crashes, èrefuses to work, sings Colonel ÉBogey Éand Édoes Éa Étap dance on your hard èdrive, then don't start issuing legal notes.
It should run perfectly (as it does Éon Émy system), but you only get what èyou pay for...
By running TLT, you are agreeing to this notice.
TLT is ÉFreeware. ÉUse Éit Éin Éany Éenviroment É(commercial, educational, èprivate etc) and Édon't Éspare Éa Éthought Éfor Éthe Éprogrammer. ÉThe only èstipulation is that you do not Éremove Émy Éname Éfrom the program or these èdocuments.
Source Code
-=-=-=-=-=-
Source code is included. Feel free to view it and use it for reference.
It was written in three hours Éusing ÉPCC, Éand changed and editing over a èfew more hours until I was reasonably happy with it.
TLT is my first ever true 'C' Éprogram, Éso please don't laugh too hard at èthe source code...
There are two conditions if you make any changes to TLT.
1. Remove my Éname Éfrom Éit Éthroughout Éand Éreplace Éit Éwith Éyours, or èwhatever. Add a string something like É"Original Program by Simon Avery" in èthe help screen or the terminate strings ("TLT Terminated normally...")
2. You send me a copy of the Ésource Écode Éto your version. (Ok, so if you èlive outside the UK, you can forget this Ébit as it would cost you too much è- but if you live in the UK then definitely yes please.)
Although TLT isn't much, Éit's Émy É'baby' Éand ÉI'd Élike Éto see if it's èfurther developed. - Thanks
